2013 thank yous
This has been such an incredible year for me. My life has changed in ways I could’ve never imagined one year ago. I am so incredibly grateful that I’m able to do what I do for a living and that I am surrounded by such a rich and supportive community. I’ve met so many wonderful people this year. This was my first year working as a freelance illustrator, and it has been very challenging, but so rewarding. I just want to give a quick shoutout to everybody who helped me get where I am, I quite literally could not have done it without you all:
My teachers, Marcos Chin, Yuko Shimizu, Mickey Duzyj, Josh Cochran, Jillian Tamaki, Sam Weber, David Sandlin, Tom Woodruff, for all of your support and patience and for encouraging me and entertaining my endless questions.
Kristin Rogers Brown, Minh Uong, Alexandra Zsigmond, Tracie Louck, Rawan Hadid, Erick Fletes, Ben Mollica and Amy Martin, Matthew French, Molly Butterfoss, Joe and Nathan over at Zoozil, and everybody else whom I had the pleasure to work with, thank you for taking a chance and giving me opportunities to explore and grow.
Jensine Eckwall, for always providing a second set of eyes and sharing your image-making expertise, for sharing professional anxieties, and for being an f’ing awesome friend.
Daniel Fishel, for sharing your experiences as a young illustrator, offering your tactics, and helping me land some really amazing jobs.
Wyeth Yates, for all of your support and encouragement.
And of course, my parents and my little brother, who’ve never once doubted my pursuit of this crazy career.
Thank you all for following my work, it means so much! I hope 2014 treats everybody well.
